History 101: World Dominance Gaming

Back around summer of '08, a clan called WSS was founded by Joker and had iTony help him create a server. Soon enough their popular JailBreak server was known to be one of the best, with one exception. The clan leader himself would come onto the server and start ruining the gameplay of others. Really, the clan as a whole couldn't do much about it as the server was indeed owned by him. We had a choice of playing there or not.

Joker was never too active on the server and never ever knew what was going on. The only time he would connect is to start wrecking his own server. Danny as a senior member decided this was enough, as did one of the co-leaders Tony. By rounding up all the clan members and discussing the matters of the corrupt leadership, a munity was in play. The purchase of Danny's new CS:S server finalized the move, as did all the WSS regulars. A fresh name was used for this clan, World Defiance. Danny, Tony and Ngo picked up the pieces of the broken WSS, even still half the population was lost and soon formed MGK (That's another story). This wD clan was growing strong and regaining the popularity it once had.

A flush of admin applications came in, as they weren't cheap either. Danny as the head honcho managed all the administrative duties which included handling the admin payments. A quite of few people sent in $60 to get a "lifetime" admin subscription and not before long, Danny was racking in the cash. The server had been alive for about 3-4 months and saved up about $160 in his paypal. One afternoon without warning, he vanished. The server bills were still through his paypal which had nothing left so as a result, the server and website went down shortly. The wD community was devastated with their beloved server missing from their favourites. Enraged, confused and saddened, what will they ever do?

After 2 days of the server being offline, something had to be done. Members who cared enough about this clan chipped in their five measely dollars to help fund the new server. Xzero, Sub, Star and Viet all chipped in to help save this clan. To keep our old members from getting confused, the same tag had been used but a slight modification to the actual name. World Dominance is the name you know of today.

It sure is a great feeling seeing something that we have put a lot of hard work into still alive and kicking after an entire year. We would be lying if we said this past year was not without our own problems, complications, or setbacks. A good portion of our problems, because of our strong stand against price tagging anything and everything, have been with acquiring adequate funding to pay for the server on a monthly basis.

Unquestionably, our server is really quite unique. Not only in terms of content, but more importantly in terms of the the community and server atmosphere. Often times players enjoy coming into the server with their primary goal of having good company with other players. This atmosphere is largely due in part to our awesome administrative team who make sure to deal with anyone who tries to disrupt this absolute state of tranquility. We are proud to say there is no other server that comes close to being on par with our outstanding server qualities.

These successes are attributed to our mission, which is to provide a place where gamers from all over the world, of all calibers, can meet for family friendly, respectful game play. We like to refer to our servers as “punk-free” and you appreciate having a place where your family can game without being surrounded by the abusive stuff you’ll find on many other servers. This community's foundation rests on honor, loyalty, and integrity. We put heavy emphasis on maturity, fair play, helping others, and having a fun and competitive gaming experience that all can enjoy.

Clan Structure

The sole purpose for this new rank system was organization. We've outgrown our simple community ranking structure of wD>wDs>wDe. With our clan moving in to the Team Fortress 2 Division, as well as attracting many new Counterstrike: Source members, this new structure will provide clan members with a very translucent chain of command.

I'll start off with the top, and move my way down. Please read EVERY rank description, no matter who you are. This clan can only succeed if everybody understands how it works. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me, this system must be clear to everyone!

Clan Owner:
We all know him, we all appreciate him, and we mostly know what he does. Sshado is the guy who has been there to provide leadership and unwavering insight throughout the clan's lifespan. While he may seem otherwise sometimes, he's just a regular human being, and has a life too. If you've taken U.S. Government, this should be easy. Picture Sshado as the Supreme Court. His say is usually the one with the most weight, that we all take as a final record, but he doesn't say it first. The cases come to him when they have first gone through ever other tier of the clan structure, where he can then consider all of the facts, and make a final decision.

Elites: (wDe. Name)
In the past, the Elites have become the people you go to for problems. Now, I think I can speak for all of us when I say that we definitely do not mind providing our input on serious decisions, but it has become inefficient. The Elites have generally been the people who also run the servers, manage the forums, review bans, review admin applications, and resolve disputes. Originally only half of these duties were actually intended for the Elite ranking members. From now on, the Elites will mainly be focusing on creating progress and handling administrative decisions. There is a lot of work to be done to make sure the clan is run smoothly, and we need to be able to put our full attention toward these matters. Remember, your Elites do pay attention to as much as they possibly can. We have our own forums where we are constantly discussing new endeavors and problems to make the clan more enjoyable for everyone.

Division Leaders: (wDs. Name [DL])
The easiest way I can describe Division Leaders, is "Miniature Clan Owners". The Division Leader is the top person for their division. Their decisions pertaining to their division are final. These are our most trusted members who have expressed a high amount of desire to lead their division on to new territory, to push forward. The Division Leader will have full control over what happens inside the division. Duties of the division leaders include: Nominating/Accepting Soldier Promotions. Handling Ban Appeals within their Division, Approving Recruits as full members, providing a very heavy opinion on their division admin applications, and finalizing Division Rules (EX: Jailbreak Rules.) Because Division Leaders have the final say in their division, they are highly encouraged to be very careful, and to take everything in to account. Feel free to look at any of Xzero's posts for a great example.

Advisors: (wDs. Name [A])
Just like the Division Leaders are the "Miniature Clan Owners", the Advisors are the "Miniature-Elites" of the clan. Advisors will be filling the roles of the Elites as it pertains specifically to their division. Advisors have all of the same exact duties as a Division Leader (See above), but are still generally subject to the Division Leader's decisions. The Advisors are equal to the Division Leader in how much weight their opinions carry, and are encouraged to work on the exact same level that the Division Leader works. The two ranks are almost exactly the same level. Advisors must understand that taking initiative is a must! Don't hold back! You are a huge part in your Division's leadership.

Recruitment Manager: (wDs. Name [RM])
The Recruitment Manager job is to do what it says on the tin. The Recruitment Manager must manage the recruitment process within their division, including managing the recruiting records, making sure the roster is up to date, managing roll calls and making sure the Recruitment Officers are doing their job properly!

Recruitment Officer: (wDs. Name [RO])
Recruitment Officer are in charge of inspecting Recruits to make sure they meet our standards. They are also tasked with accepting new recruits for interview, interviewing them and accepting them into the clan properly. They are to make sure the Recruitment Manager is up to date with any changes in the recruitment process for new recruits!

Soldiers: (wDs. Name)
Soldiers are the hard working, active, respectful members of the division. These are the members that you go to FIRST for problems. Soldiers are going to be expected to be able to resolve disputes, provide a kind environment, and represent their division leadership. I'm going to ask the Division Leaders to tighten up on their Soldiers. If you aren't doing your job, taking initiative, or fail to be active, you will be cut. This applies to every rank. It's nothing personal, but we don't want hard working members to feel like once they obtain a promotion they can start to slack off!

Members: (wD. Name)
Congratulations! If you are a clan member, you are accepted as a respectful, caring player. Be proud of your rank! You are part of a great clan that is based on community and fun! Members are no less important than anyone else in the clan. Just because you don't have a fancy little letter next to your name, doesn't mean your opinions do not matter. In fact, we take in to account everything said on any matter. Members are expected to represent the clan to the best of their ability, and spread the word!

Recruits: (wD. Name [R])
The way Recruits works is as follows: A player signs up on our forums and applies for membership in his appropriate division. The recruitment officers will then accept the player and provide him with a short explanation of what it means to be a Recruit. The Recruit is a member-in-training. They will have 3-7 days to prove that they actually are dedicated and respectful. At any point during their "Recruit Period", a Division Leader or Advisor may stamp their application, locking it, and labeling them a full member of the clan. Recruits must wear an [R] at the end of their name, and a wD. tag at the front.

Example: Player signs up, he is active on the servers, and has no complains. Recruitment officer stamps his application and approves him to be a Recruit. Two days later, a Division Leader sees him in game giving rules to the Terrorists, and doing a grand job of it. The Division Leader knows this player is a recruit because they have an [R] by their name. The Division Leader then goes and stamps the application, making them a full member!

There you have it! This is our new clan structure. If you ever have any problems, go to a soldier first. The soldier will relay you to an Advisor if the problem can not be solved at that moment, and the Advisors will make a decision, possibly interfacing with the Division Leader. Division Leaders and Advisors will be the people to handle any questions and problems in their forum sections, but Elites may still post on them from time to time. Elites are still free to solve problems, but usually only the complicated ones.
